Re: March 26th demonstration

Whilst violence and vandalism are clearly unacceptable, they do in part reflect failings of society. Anger and frustration are building and the economic disparity of UK society is starting to cause cracks to appear at the seams. At some point, something will have to give. It seems hypocritical for the UK to argue the point against Middle Eastern dictators and oppression of the masses when arguably class separation has imposed a form of slavery on the lower economic classes within the UK. Clearly life in the UK is worlds apart from the situation in the Middle East. However current policy which continues to impose the bulk of the burden of rectifying the British economy onto the poor and middle classes, towards cuts against healthcare, police and social support in defense of the established and affluent minority is obviously taking the UK in the wrong direction and will only fracture society further. While the rich and fortunate argue against the increase in taxes, it is hard to defend against the 50% tax rate when situations are compared proportionately.  For those whose budgets are already limited, even a small effect in budget has a significant impact not only on available cash, but on the social fabric of those affected. How many domestic disputes originate over money? In contrast, bankers continue to guzzle Moet and Chandon, and bemoan any threat of increased taxation. Yet now the poor struggle to afford fresh fruit and meat.
The recent demonstration showed a significant proportion of the population opposes current policy. However, the government seems deaf to argument and seems keen to focus on the minority of trouble-makers. Open arguing that current austerity measures are necessary. Words are cheap when you are unaffected. Perhaps if the government want to demonstrate their desire for austerity, perhaps the MP’s would forego expenses on the public purse for a year? Perhaps develop a feel for what it is like to pay for things. Learn an appreciation for money. We elected them to do what is best for the country. We should also have the right to apply an off-switch when they get it wrong. Perhaps now is the time to start preparing to turn off the government because they are rapidly becoming out of control.
